About me

Background

I bring a combined professional background of over 30 years, teaching young people and counselling adults and young people. This experience shapes how I support individuals, couples and families through the everyday ups and downs of relationships and family life. Over the years, I have helped people work through communication within relationships and family dynamics; depression and anxieties; and life transitions such as parenting and menopause.

My Approach

I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental counselling space where you can untangle complex feelings, handle the unique pressures of modern life and find your way through major transitions, at your own pace.

Community

Alongside my private practice, I am proud to volunteer at York Women's Counselling Service, offering counselling to women across our community.

What to expect

I believe the key to successful therapy lies in the relationship we build together. As a person-centred counsellor (a humanistic approach to therapy that puts our relationship at the centre of the work), I provide a calm and respectful space where you can feel safe enough to share your most difficult thoughts and emotions.

A Shared Experience

Whether you're working through something on your own or alongside a partner, therapy with me is a shared experience; I will walk alongside you, working at your pace to ensure you feel fully heard, seen and understood. Within this collaborative partnership, we will explore your feelings and experiences to help you cultivate meaningful change, emotional wellbeing and a greater sense of inner strength.

A Trusting, Non-Judgmental Space

It is often difficult to voice our fears, pain and anxieties. Because of this, I place an emphasis on building a trusting, empathic relationship where uncomfortable emotions can be safely explored without judgment.

Balance of Empathy & Growth

In our sessions, you will find a balance of empathy and steady support. I am deeply compassionate and able to safely hold your distress when things feel overwhelming. I will also gently invite you to explore your experiences, when appropriate, to help you move towards personal growth so you can reconnect with yourself and move forward into a more fulfilling, authentic life.

Working together

Taking the first step towards clarity, connection and personal growth by finding the right therapist is the most important part of this journey.

To help us decide if we feel like a good fit, I offer a free, no-obligation 15-minute introductory conversation by video call. This is a gentle opportunity for you to ask questions and share a little about what brings you to therapy. If you decide you would like to move forward, we can then arrange our first session.
